I just wanted to say I know nothing about Train Horns but I’ve always wanted to get a set ever since I moved here from Canada because the people who drive here are just absolutely disrespectful and unresponsive to stock horns… I think its about time I started representing!
Anyways, I’ve been trying to do some research about which set of horns to get. I currently have 2 rides over here (Toyota Estima, also known as the Previa in North America and an E350) and plan to have it installed in the Estima minivan…
I’ve noticed some discussions about the “Shocker” kits and the “K3 or K5” kits… I know what the Shocker kits are but what are the K3 or K5 kits? Do they have a huge noticeable difference between the Shockers?
Thanks guys and as soon as I know what I want, I’m gonna order me a set and post up some videos!
Welcome. When you see references to just about any form of K3 or K5, they’re talking about Nathan Airchimes. Those seen to be the most common authentic train horns. I’ve always heard good things about shockers in terms of sound and loudness and a lot of people start with them but eventually upgrade to the Airchimes.
Lets put it this way… I have had a set of Shockers and then a set K3’s, I personally prefer the Shockers, now That might seem crazy to some:confused:, but my reason for this is that the K3’s are way way way to loud for me living in London:eek:…But if I lived out in the sticks I would go for another set of K3’s.
LOL…To loud is when you honk in America and pss off your next door neighbour, but sit on the remote fob on your keys for ya Horns by mistake in London and you pss off an entire neighbourhood!
To Loud is when you Honk in town with K3’s and then get caught up in Londons infamous traffic & roadworks as the guy you just honked at the bus stop is sprinting down the road to do some damage after you. lol
I have found I never used to Honk my K3’s as much as I have done with my Shockers, I suppose partly coz my K3’s were on a bright orange pimped out truck - Not the most inconspicious vehicle to be driving around lol.
Thanks for all the advice guys! Greatly appreciate it! Now its time to choose… seems like Shockers are more the pratical type while the K3’s can cause some serious sh!t… its a hard choice because I seriously get frustrated when a-holes drive like fockers and I seriously wanna blow them away but I don’t want the popo’s after my oven cos I think its illegal over here… Shockers are also cheaper so more in my budget… but the K3’s are really tempting the way I see it…
Would the K3’s require a larger air tank? cos I just checked shipping and its gonna cost me US$200.00 to ship a Shocker 240 system and close to $400.00 for a Shocker 540 system… thats like almost the price of the system itself!
Just curious…why’d u move to Honk Kong?
And k3 needs alot of air…I suggest a basic bare minimum of 5 gallons…ima be running 8 gallon on my k5 and im not too happy bout it…altho I may eliminate 2 horns n just run a k3
Moved to Hong Kong because, long story short, I came here for a vacation in 2007, met my current wife, got married back in Canada, then wife couldn’t take the boredom over there so tried my luck out here… and honestly, its actually a lot more fun over here… more things to do and greater opportunities…
I don’t know about Hong Kong but I’ll bet they’re the same as ones in Thailand where you can get just about anything you want. When I was there (Air Force) some guys would hire a woman to be like a wife for the entire time they were there. Many of the so called hookers were actually married and their husbands either encouraged or forced them into it.
They actually under rated the massage parlours in the movie… its actually a lot different and a lot more crazy… lol… but all the real action now is not in HK but in Macau, also known as the new Vegas of the world… they have some serious action going on over there… SERIOUS ACTION!!
