Norfolk Southern K5's

Well we don’t get to see trains very much in this town. I got to see a Norfolk Southern train go by above me real slow. I noticed 3 horns pointed forward and 2 horns pointed backwards. I thought it was alittle weird but maybe that is how they all are. To bad they don’t sound them like they use to in this town. They are on the highline so it doesn’t cross any streets now.

That’s a normal configuration for a K5 … K5LAR24. Bells 2 & 4 are reversed. I think NS and CSX run their K5’s this way.

Hey thanks Kris. I wonder if the sound is different compared to them all facing forward? Thought about getting the individual mounts when I order my K5 within the next week or so.

with the individual mounts make sure the lenghts of the tubes are equal length so they sound at the same time.
