Yep, I said normally open @ 12vdc. I can be flexible on the thread size and pressure rating but would prefer 3/8" or 1/4". Got another project for the truck but these are proving hard to find!
so ur looking to buy?
Yep, need one.
i mean i have a selenoid if thats what ur looking for…an open one idk what that is ?
I need one that is open untill you apply 12vdc to it. If the one you have is for a horn, its a normally closed one, will not work.
oh ya thats what i have…so why dont u just use a switch to keep it open?
I am going to have to use two solenoids. The N/C one on the pressure side will open to pressure the cylinder, at the same time the N/O one will energize and close preventing air from escaping. When I need to contract the cylinder I will turn off the switch, the pressured solenoid (the N/C one) will deenergize and close, at the same time the N/O one will deenergize also and open releasing the air from the cylinder. This will close the spring loaded cylinder to its original position. Both the solenoids will be on the same port of the cylinder.
lol i have no idea what ur doin but i do have a 1/4 selenoid if ur intresed
I think a dump bed or his steps, if so just run a solenoid like the bag boys do, one to fill one to release.
That would work if I wanted to have a solenoid energized the whole time the truck is running. I’m not ok with that, plus it would not last long.
I am building a mechanism that is going to fold dowm my license plate to reveal two laser star flood lights and a back up camera mounted in the center of the bumper openeing. everything I do to my truck I like it to be hidden or at least not noticable by the average idiot, this is why my horns and everything else are dull (not polished) or out of site.
By using the solenoids to require voltage to lay the plate down and it being spring tensioned the chances for it to malfunction are minimal. I hope I have helped ya understand what I’m doing.
As soon as my computer ignorant a** figures out how to post pics I will post some!
thanks guys
why not just buy the electric kit hornblasters sells prolly just as cheap as one valve…

Thats hilarious! I did not know anyone made these. I’m just worried about the available space behind the plate flipper and I might not have enough room to do what I need.
its just a mounting bracket i think… cut it out and make a bigger hole in it
I think that will be bad donkey. 7 is right, Modify where needed.
Sounds like a plan! Thanks Guys.
