Not sure what I need for proper install...

I’ve started installing a Wolo 847 Siberian Express and 840 tank/compressor http://www.wolo-mfg.com/truck.htm
my buddy’s helping me install it and I will need to have the right parts on hand. The problem is, I don’t know exactly what we will need for a proper install. Here are the questions I have.

  1. what type of momentary will I need to sound the horn? SPST (as opposed to SPDT)? If so, then (ON)-OFF or ON-(OFF)?
  2. Do I need a relay? What kind? From where?
  3. Anything I’m missing to make a proper install?

Any help would be greatly appereciated!

Thought u had the horns installed already?

S*^T! I think I have 2 threads going of this same topic. SORRY (it was early in the morning and couldnt find the original. Thought it didnt post so re-did it).
Anyway, in the following diagrams…where do I get that relay from? Do I have to buy it, or is it already in my truck somewhere?
I got this momentary from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062508 it will work, right?
Lastly, what kind of switch do I need for the compressor on/off? Is the attached pic ok to use. It illuminates blue when on

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ALGY18 this is button i just ordered
u want a button that is push and hold to sound the horn…no clicks… but any button like that will do…

http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=viair-110-150-psi-pressure-switch-with-relay need a pressure switch…it has a built in relay…

that toggle switch for ur compressor will work fine…

ur kit says it has a valve so ur good, and btw i doubt those horns blow 152 db…fyi…
but thats ur basics of what u need… other then airline, fittings… and if u want u can add water traps…or a regulator but their not a needed…

The momentary button is good for the horn solenoid.
The pictured switch is good for the trigger wire on your compressor relay.
You will have to buy the relay if it didn’t come in your kit.
If that compressor draws 12amps (I think I read that) any ol’ 20-30 amp relay will work.
Any auto parts store should have one. You can use 12ga wire and a 20 amp fuse. Lighter wire is fine for the trigger wire and the solenoid valve.

haha we posted at the same time.
scaredu - I might have to get me one of those horn buttons…I forgot about those.

I read about his kit earlier and I think it comes with a 110psi pressure switch.
The hornblasters pressure switch would clean up the wiring though.

Thx guys. Hey how does that cord switch button work? Direct plug n play or have to be modded? I like it!
Yes my wolo 840 tank/compressor comes with built in pressure switch, so I’ll be going to auto parts store to pick up a 30A relay. So I’ll still just follow the wiring diag previously posted?

i dunno how the cord switch works yet…ill let u know when i get it…lol but i know someone else had it installed on their vehicle so i know it can work with the horns…

Should be 2 wires in that cord. Power in & power out. Just like the 2 terminals on the Radioshack button.

Yeah the diagrams are good.

Just got the switch today and the holder I ordered for it too…ya cord has a power n ground…that’s all ya need

copy cat

 :stuck_out_tongue:

that was my old old setup…

And i do miss it. Only problem i had with it , was to easy and convenient to hold that thing all time while driving and pressed it to much. lol.

Also you start feeling like your shooting missiles while pressing it… I often wondered why the car that cut me off didnt blow to pieces after i pressed the button, hahahaha

Haha its gonna be awesome…ya I wanted this so I could have it ready at all time…
