Okay, I've searched

But I haven’t really found a definitive answer to my question: what is the loudest air horn that I can get for my vehicle while running a 150 PSI system with a 1.5 gal air tank? I’m doing this setup with a York compressor on my Jeep…thanks for the help guys!

Loudest is a k5. But with a 1.5 gallon tank youll get about a 3 second blast before the tank is empty.

1.5 gallon that’s not much air but the shockers will work fine… now if you get a bigger tank the Nathan k3 will be the louder…

I thought leslies were louder than nathans? Also run more air, so shockers for your dilemma

Yep, a Leslie RS-5-T is louder than any Nathan horn made today. A RS-3-L is the same (according to Leslie and Nathan’s info recorded at the same distance) as a K3. The K5 isn’t as loud as a K3 (again according to Nathan’s info).

On a 1.5gal tank a leslie or nathan would be useless id go with psychoblasters or something high pitched so you would have a lonyer blast

Agreed. I have seen distance recordings from the K3 and K5 and the K5 always wins. Not to bring up the past, but perhaps close up (1m) decibel readings are a little deceiving.

Mark, a York compressors is great! You’ll need a bigger tank to run bigger horns though. As mentioned above, the S4 would work fine with a 1.5 gallon tank for a short burst, but ideally you need a bigger reservoir for that too. Compressors don’t like kicking on and off too constantly either; so for the sake of having a long enough blast and taking care of your compressor, get a bigger one.

Well, it’s a Jeep Wrangler. Space is a premium on one of these…I am, however, mounting a 5 gal tank in the back that is going to be a removable tank. So it will bring the total capacity to 6.5 gals unless it is out, but the only reason for removing it will be to loan it to other people on the trails or to haul stuff in the back, so…

Edit:

Oh yea, and thanks for the responses!

IF THAT. In this situation, a k3 would be louder.

Leslies ARE louder and BIGGER. But even with the 6.5 gals he says he will have, wont do any justice.

A Truth.

1.5 gallon works fine with a K3 actually, but honk any longer then 3 full seconds and your K3 will want more air :stuck_out_tongue:

Every time you blow it, you hit the compressors. So this is shortening their life span. Compressor end up running longer, more water in the tank. You have to listen to the compressors a hundred times longer than the horn.

Or Be lucky if all the bells will even sound and sound like a sick cow.

Good Luck,

John

it takes about a full second for all bells to come in properly on a K5…just mount the 5 gals somewhere…since u have a york…it will fill fast and wont have to wait to honk again.
