Onboard Air

Hello, I am wanting to run onboard air for my 03 F350 Powerstroke. It is lifted on 35x13s. I want a good reliable air system that will be able to fill my tires from about 10 psi to 30 or so. Also being able to run air tools would be pretty awesome. So, shall or go tank less or run 2 5gallon tanks? What compressors should I be looking at? I am looking to keep it under 750$.

I already have the 2.5 gallon with a VI-air 285c.

Sounds like you need another 2.5 gallon tank, and a Dual Pack of 450C compressors.

I have no idea what a 285C is… but any 200 series compressor is going to be way too small for larger tires. -Especially if you want to run air tools.

An Oasis can fill one of those tires from 10 to 30 in about 1 minute and they can run a 1/2" impact all without a tank but it cost almost twice as much as you want to spend.

We also sell automatic tire deflators for going off road. Just screw them on your tire stems and they’ll air your tires down even while you drive as long as you don’t go over 20 MPH while they’re on. A set includes 4 deflators, adjustment tool, stick gauge, vinyl pouch and instructions. There’s no faster way to air down.

i wish i had a REAL need for an oasis. id have one in a second, but hell i dont have a real need for a viair

Dan, I think you missed the part where he said he wanted to keep the OBA system under $750…

he stated

Yeah, Cant afford the Oaisis.

Any reason to have a 150psi>200PSI? I could spend a little more should I go with more air capacity? Oh I forgot to add I have another 5 gallon and 2 siege compressors laying around if it would help.

Depends on what u wanna do… like some air tools run only on lower psi so im not sure what higher psi would do

Couldn’t you run 2 lines from the tank? 1 regulated one not? Do they have regulators for this application?

You sure can and I don’t know if HB carries regulators but that’s what you would need.

you can definetly use a regulator. Stay with 150 psi i’d say…if primarily using for other things then horns…the dual 450c’s would work awesome, with 2 5 gallon tanks and even a bit under your budget. They are constant duty at 100 psi so you won’t have to worry about them running too long and then having to fill up the tanks, and they’re pretty fast to boot. The 380/480c’s blow for CFM…not the best IMO for airtools/tires/anything but horns and bags.

I must be blind, muh bad!!

Thanks for the info, I didn’t realize there was much of a difference between 480s weren’t that good. Thats some good info. Ill probably end up with another 5 gallon and dual 450c’s

the 480s are not bad, just not recommended for you application
