just wondering if there are any tips on painting k5’s besides not getting paint down the bells.
I would disassemble the individual bells. That way you don’t risk getting paint on the rubber cushion ring and on the diaphragms. Also, try not to paint the nozzles (the internal part where the sound is generated). When you paint the manifold, be sure not to paint down any of the holes or on the shiny parts where the horns mount. Hope this helps!
GGGGOOOOODDDDDD tips. I really appreciate your help. Think I will give it a try and post some pics. Thanks.
all i did was put a piece of shop towel inside the bell tucked in good, sanded, primed, painted, and when it was all said and done, fished em out. just make sure theyre sitting good, and are giving full coverage. or you can spend a lot more time and disassemble everything…
Yeah but my horns got an even coat down the bells and all. I did what you did on my P5 and you could see the color line down the throats of the bells. I’d take them apart and do it the right way to be satisfied the first time. But then again, most people are just sticking them under their vehicles and it doesn’t matter.
hey hondaguy i have a k3ha exactly like yours
that was 1 coat of paint…still went 2 more passes…then a clear coat
Thread revival…lol
I was searching threads for painting…
I’m painting my k5LA soon and I haven’t seen anybody mention the small holes in the back caps. Do I need to be careful with them? I assume they’re there for a reason. Any tips for these holes?
Thanks
Just put something like a toothpic in them. Or just poke em out afterwards lol
Alright thanks that’s easy enough…
I worked at Home Depot for 2 years mainly in the Paint Department (24!) As we were always taught, Thin to Win.
two light coats goes a long way.
Yeah, Home Depot FTW…just bought my paint tonight.
Rustoleum primer doesn’t say self-etching but how bad can it be?
EDIT: I found Rustoleum self-etching primer at Autozone.
