Hey fellas I’m new to this site and had a question about my set-up. I bought this set-up off ebay it came with compressor/tank combo and an Omega 3 trumpet horn. Everything was working fine until the other day I started poppin fuses. I followed one of the wiring set-ups on here someone had sent me in powerstroke.org. Anyway I have my compressor ran straight to the battery with a 30A in-line fuse on a toggle switch and grounded to the chasis. The horn is wired exactly the same but on a totally different circuit. The fuse that keeps poppin is the one for the horn. I checked all my wiring and nothing is broken. I continuity tested the solenoid and it seems to be fine as well. Its not the toggle switch either cuz I tried others. It works when it wants too.
That’s going to be a tough one. I would try using an amp meter but a solenoid usually isn’t on long enough to get a reading.
Is it possible something is causing the solenoid to be sticking sometimes?
a continuity test on the solenoid won’t mean much. what was the resistance that you measured? fuses pop because of over current. either you have a short along the wiring after the fuse to the solenoid or the solenoid has shorted coils.
a sticking solenoid (assuming the coil is in good condition) won’t pop fuses.
I’m not sure what you’re askin about rating of the fuse, If your askin what size amp I had on it, it was a 30A mini fuse. I dont know if it makes a difference on what type of fuse. the compressor fuse is the tube type.
And there’s no kind of writing or anything on the solenoid itself
if a 30A fuse for the solenoid blows. something is really wrong. does it blow everytime you honk/try to honk or does it work some of the time and suddenly blows?
