Porting out?

Has anyone ever tried to port out the hole going through the trumpet? I have a set of k3las and I noticed the hole going through the trumpet is a lot smaller than the hole in the manifold. I was wondering if you drilled that hole to make it bigger if the horns would get bigger or if it would distort the sound.

Any advice would help and be appreciated.

I have heard mixed reviews of people doing it.

It’s a pretty expensive experiment… I drilled out the holes on my first set of train horns but they were cheap grand generals. I wa just seeing if anyone had actually done it to a set of Nathan’s.

LOL how much louder can a K3 get? Ar’nt K3’s loud enough? lol

Wow that did show some light on this situation. Thank you for finding that thread for me. I’m a little uncertain about it tho still… I appreciate everything.

Most people think K3’s are loud enough to wake the dead so I wouldn’t mess with them. I think widening the port would distort more than help.

Yeah I’m thinking the same thing now. I’m just gonna leave them how they are. Thanks everyone for the advice. It’s well appreciated.
