pressure problem...?

So here is the deal. I have a brand new pressure switch installed into the end of my tank. The problem is, is that sometimes it sticks and doesn’t shut off the compressor. This switch is only a month old. It is a PRE1500 by AirRide tech. My question is, is it possible that moisture is staying in there and causing it not to read properly? It is mounted on the end cap of the tank (horizontally), but the tank tips forward a little bit (toward the switch). Also I park on an incline that is angling the tank even more that direction. Now when it sticks, if I let out some air it will stay off… Another question… My analog psi gauge is mounted about 45 degrees upside down. Could this cause it not to read right too?

Any opinions here would be appreciated. Thanks!

both are possible from freezing in cold weather but mostly the switch. it’s best to mount the pressure switch in an upright position.

I just put a 90 on it, so now the switch is straight up. I hope this works. So cold weather and freezing temps can cause these switches to stick too?

Yes it can. Put a little anti-freeze in the tank and hope some of it gets into the switch. That will help everything down stream too.

It normally doesn’t get too cold here. Just a hair below freezing when it does get cold. I was thinking that maybe the compressor heats everything up while it is pumping that it would thaw anything that might be frozen? I don’t know. just an idea. I know that compressor head gets really hot…

Know you say a little… how much is a little for a 7 gallon tank?

I’d say about a tablespoon.

^ allright… Thanks man, if I have any more trouble I’ll put some in there.
