Pressure Regulator and .....

Anyone know where to get a 1/2" pressure regulator? Im from texas but i will order online if someone provides me with a good source.

Is anyone using water traps or air dryers or is this unnecessary.

i think home depot has these…

They only go up to a 3/8". :frowning: I dont wanna drop my line size for a stinkin regulator. Are you runnin your k3ha at 200psi?

i was, but last week changed it to 175 psi. i have a little to big of a tank for my compresssor so figured i would give it a break. but in my opinion… 200 psi is fine for how much we honk them… but im sure everyone will argue that with me but i dont care

Nah, thats what I was thinking but I called Nathan Airchime and the Engineer told me that 200psi will warp the diaphrams. Do you use a regulator or did you just change the pressure switch? I know you have shockers too so I was thinking that, if you blew both all the time then the pressure gets distributed some how.

i just changed the pressure switch, i took off my shockers gave em to my pops for his truck, theres no use for them anyways you cant hear em over the nathans

Haha ha . I gotta repost for those shocker owners! Too funny.

I got mine from grainger; 97.00 plus shipping. It has a maximum input of 250 psi, can be adjusted from 5-150 psi, has a 140 cfm flow rate, and has a filter. I have two 480s and two 5-gallon tanks at 200 psi, down-regulated to 130 psi, through 3/4" line to my Leslie RS-5T. I can get a continuous 7-second blast with no change in volume or tone, which says alot considering how hungry this horn is.

I run water traps i defintaly think they are necessary, they save your tank and valve alot. i got the water trap from graingers to, they have a bunch to choose from.

Really? Im not sure how much of a problem Im having with the water. My line to the horns come from the side of the tank. (My tank is mounted sideways.) Even when I drain the tank every two weeks, there’s barely any water in there. just a little splash. To me, the more crap you put in the way, the less air getting to your horns.

my regulator was less that that. $77 and its a 0-300psi with a 225cfm (flow rate) It kicks butt. You may want to reconsider. Just this weekend, I bumped my output up to about 155psi just to see if there was a difference and I noticed one. I can only imagine the damage if I let all 200 rip. “I need a set of diaphrams STAT!!” lol

hey jason…use 175…just for a week…i bet ull keep it that way…it gives it a hard blast on the diaphrams…but it scares alot better too

You got some diaphrams for me when I warp mine? lol. i got a question. Im gonna direct message you.

The water trap shouldnt be between the tank and the horns, there wouldnt be a point then. You gotta run the trap after the compressor before the tank. how often does your compressors run?

Ok. I feel stupid now. I know better than that. My compressors on average run a total of about 5-6 minutes a day. I blow in a tunnel every day to and from work. And I run the pressure down to about 140. It only takes about 1.5 minutes to get to 200.

Haha thats ok man, we all do it. yea its not like your compressors run that much at all. I run water traps cause my compressor runs alot (lots of long honks) and the weather here in NY is so different all the time. We get some real cold weather here so if i can get as much water out of the air it will keep the moisture from freezing in my tank, and even more important out of my valve. Its up to you bro if you feel theres a need for them on your system.

Yeah, I keep trying to preserve my compressors for some reason. So I don’t honk all the time and then, there’s a small phobia there cause road rage is really bad here. I don’t want a gun battle on 288. LOL. My homey kingranchsteve needs to show me the ropes. I’m going to get water traps when IBM upgrade the tank.

i honk all the time…10-15times a day…when stupid ladies dont go on green…when people cut me…when i see friends…when stupid kids r going down the street…any rail crossing…anytime people honk at me…underpasses, tunnels, or any spot where theres a bunch of cars in parking lots…all great echos and laughing moments

Wow. Sounds like fun. I honk like that too. I mostly drive my truck to and from work. I never Henry in a parking lot where I’m about to park and go inside. That’s only showing people what you have.

yea dont honk and park…im saying when u pass by a place that has alot of people…like leaving the movies!!!

Yup. I hear ya. I blast mine leaving church. Lol
