Problem with Shocker

Hey guys, I’m having an issue with my shocker 228vx. I got it installed in July 2011 and recently it’s taken me upwards to 4-5 pushes of the button for it to honk once. It doesn’t happen all the time but lately it’s happened more often, 10 minutes ago it didn’t honk once after 5 pushes, then a minute later it honked on the first push.

What could be the problem and how can I fix it? Thank you! It’s incredibly frustrating to have it fail at the perfect opportunity so any help would be greatly appreciated.

And following the first few months of having it it had worked flawlessly, don’t know why it all the sudden started occuring. Thanks again!

First thing I’m thinking is your solenoid valve. How’s the weather where you are? Is it cold enough to freeze water? Your valve could be frozen, making it difficult to open up and let air through. I think I read somewhere where you can pour a few drops of antifreeze into the air hose where it will get to the inside of the valve, but that’s me going off my memory.

Its definitely something to do with your valve, make sure all connections are good, and the ground is good. otherwise it sounds like NukEvil is correct.

I live in Cypress, TX, just outside of Houston. We haven’t had really a winter yet, its 80 degrees now and the coldest it has gotten so far is maybe 40, but I’ll give that a try hopefully it is just that. I figured it had something to do with the solenoid just had no idea what to do. Thank you for the advice

ok then, like they ^^^ mentioned, check your ground.
Make sure the metal is shiny and connection guten tight.

Also, are you using a push Button to honk your shockers? If so check and make sure its not your push button. It could also Impact of your solenoid opening as well.

Yes I do have a push button, I’ll check that as
well as the ground. I’ll let you guys know if I fix it, thanks for the help!

If you know that the temperature is going to get down to freezing or below, add a cap full of antifreeze to your tank before it does and it will help keep the lines and valves clear.
