OK SO i HAD MY HB4 ON MY TRUCK FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS NOW… LOVING IT BUT MY FRIENDS BEEN SAYING THE HORNS HAVE BEEN SOUNDING NOT AS LOUD. SO I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING TOO SO i WENT AND CLEANED THE PRESSURE RELEASE VALVE AND DISCONNECTED THE TANK TO EMPTY ANY WATER BUILD UP. THE ELECTRIC PRESSURE SWITCH I NOTICED WAS LEAKING SO I RE T-TAPED IT AND TIGHTED IT BACK UP. TURN THE KEY THE COMPRESSOR CAME ON AND NOW THE TANK IS NOT BUILDING UP ANY PRESSURE. i WENT THREW MY WHOLE SYSTEM LIKE 10 MILLION TIMES AND DON’T SEE ANY LEAKS. i HAVE NO IDEA WERE THE AIR IS GOING. i DISCONNECTED THE COMPRESSURE TO SEE IF IT WAS PUMPING AIR AND IT WAS. MAYBE I MESSED UP THE ELECTIC PRESSURE SWITCH IS THERE A SAFETY PRESSURE RELEASE IN THERE OR ANYTHING? CAN IT LEAK? BUT I NEED TO HAVE MY HORNS BACK IN ACTION !
ANY ADVISE WILL BE GREAT
could be a piece of tape messing up pressure switch?
How are you checking leaks. Are you using a water/soap (dish washing liquid)solution? I use that method to locate the smallest air leaks. Don’t use teflon tape, use blue loctite anywhere you would use tape. Disconnect the ‘out’ airline on your solenoid, is it partially stuck open? Use a paint brush and put some water/ soap solution on the end; any air bubbles? Slather the soap solution anywhere you have a connection…you’ll find a leak.
yup use soap and water!
my guess a small leak in ur air line
Update ---- i took the filter off the compressor and air is pumping out the intake not suckin in. So now what … The compressor is 5 months old and ive kept it in a tool box in the back of the pick up. I am fustrated no bueno .
If air is flowing out the intake hole, you likely have a check valve problem - or you have an intake valve that isn’t sealing. First attempt to fix would be the leader hose, which usually takes care of this.
make sure the check valve isnt reversed if u took that apart… as lance said , the lead hose prob is the problem with the check. try taking it off the tank and feel if air is coming out of it when compressor is running , if not take it off the compressor and see if air flows then thru where the hose would connect
