Question about external install under vehicle rear

I am unable to install the air tank inside my vehicle due to a custom stereo setup but their is a ton of room underneath the rear of my vehicle (2nd gen Scion XB)…

My question is, will it be ok in terms of reliability and safety to mount the compressor, air tank and horns underneath the rear? I just might be able to make some room for the compressor in the spare tire area inside the vehicle but I am not sure about that yet.

Please bear in mind I live in IL and our winters are snow, ice, salt, etc… :frowning: The kit I am getting is a hornblasters shocker VX228  If the winter elements are gonna be a bad issue, I can always remove the kit in the winter time… just thought I would hear you guys opinions - Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

As for the Shocker 228vx kit, it is not recommended to be placed on the outside of the vehicle. This compressor will not be able to withstand the weather. If you are looking for a kit that you can place underneath the car, I would look at the Conductor’s special 232 or 240. This kit also has 2 gallon tank but, the compressor is not mounted on the tank and it will be able to hold up in all of the crazy weather you guys have up there  If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at 1-877-209-8179! another winter issue is moisture in the air lines freezing and blocking airflow.

Yeah we have some crazy winters here thats bad enough to screw up stuff. So I decided that I am going to remove the setup over the winters at the same time I put my winter rims and tires on
