Instead of running a power to the battery and a wire to my inigition to turn compressor on
can i just run the power from compressor to the power to my amplifier in my trunk?
And can i run the wire that cuts my compressor on to my remote on my amplifier…so when i cut my radio on the compress will kick on when the tank is low?
And then the only wire i would have to run inside the car will be to my factory horn.
Also how do i wire my trigger wire to a toggle switch with my factory horn wire??
Powerling the compressor i would run a seperate wire to the battery as you dont want to take away any power from your amp / compressor when both are running…
The remote on the compressor / relay can be wired into a ignition wire just like your amp is… that dosent take much power to alert the compressor or amp to turn on.
When I wired my amp last year, I wired 0 guage wire to a distribution block behind my back seat. When I wired my compressors, I connected the main power wires to that same distribution block, which made wiring them a lot easier. Check the power requirements for your amp and your compressor. If the two added together don’t exceed the guage and length of the existing wire, then you could use that power wire for your compressor.
thanks everyone i got them installed…after $120 to my buddy…they sound great!!!i but i think i need a bigger tank lol maybe like 5 gallons this one drains wayyyyyyyyy to quick…would i also have to upgrade the compressor if i upgrade the tank? also pressure switch?
ummm… not sure it would be a good idea to tie into the remote feed from your radio… if the remote is tied into an aftermarket radio the remote lead is usually rated for about 1 amp so depending on how many amps going through the relay to trigger it … you do run the risk of blowing your radio fuse or possibly screwing up a radio or amplifier…
Honestly if you took the time to run power for your car stereo i dont see why you would take the cheap way out and run the risk of screwing something up.
Plus if you did tie into your remote wire your compressor would only run while your stereo was on… dosent make much sence to me…
I have my stock stereo in my truck, so i ended up hooking my remote for my amp to a 12v ign fuse… Then when i did my compressor i tapped that same wire since the remote is just a trigger…
