I have a “non traditional” installation question…
Click here for the “background” on it (post 1 and 7).
I purchased the “Caboose” kit,The specs on the Compressor for this kit state it’s “Max Current Consumption” is 16 amps.
Since I’m no Reddy-Kilowatt by any stretch …my question is,
If I use a 20 amp Power Supply, will it be enough to run the compressor?
Or should I go with a 30 amp?
Here’s the P/S
Tough call. I tend to overbuild things, but not sure if it would actually be worth the extra money.
I guess 16 amps max means 16 amps max…LOL
For the sake of simplicity, why not instead use a 3k psi nitrogen tank?
Regulate it down to 90 - 140 psi and you’d have air for the better part of a year.

Ok, here’s how you should do it…
-
go to the local HW store and get a 120v compressor & tank… with those kits you don’t need anything huge. I picked up an 11gal tank and compressor for less than $150 at an auto part store.

you can get away with the 20am kit because going with the 120v comp you will only have to power a valve (which normally only draws ~4 amps) for the horns to be activated (which you can use a foot switch, pushbutton, or some other type of remote activation switch).
This is what I would do if I were installing on a stage. you KNOW the 120v outlet is already there…
^True true
And they do make 120v solenoid valves…
