Use a key on power source with a fuse to the button and you’ll be fine.
I use a key on power and a fuse with a switch to turn my compressor on/off when I don’t need air in the tank, and if you’re looking for an extra margin of safety then put a switch in before the button.
Power to a button isn’t going to burn it out. There is no difference between a switch or a button neither will ever burn out. I must admit thats the first time I have heard anyone worry about burning a switch.
It can happen when there there is high current/amps and a constant on and off. That will burn the contacts up.
I used this:
Batt-Fuse-Switch-Relay-Solenoid
So My switch picks up a relay and the relay picks up the solenoid. Plus this allows me to connect the horns to my alarm as well.
