quieting a K5LA without changing the sound?

hey all. i love the sound of train horns but don’t need all that volume. would like to put a Nathan K5LA (or K5LLA) on my truck, and i’m wondering if there’s any good (and reversible) way to reduce their volume some without changing their great tone(s). i’d still like them to be loud, but probably about half their native volume would do - i don’t want to damage anybody’s hearing, and startling people out of their skin just doesn’t turn me on. has anybody done anything like this? a quick search of the forums didn’t return anything that looked like it related to this question…

thanks!

nice! thank you very much.

And give it less psi

Hook it up through a manual valve like a Graham white, or a GW clone… or even a ball valve. That way u can have the tone you want but control the volume manually.

And when the time comes that you want to show off the true power of the nathan , you will not be restricted and can open full bore .

I love my k3 with GW clone

run a small air line

Or just buy a couple of these instead :stuck_out_tongue:

*joking

I’d recommend not doing this…

You will not get the deep tone out of the horn. They will sound squeeky

Video if another members comparison after having to redo all the airline.

Now personally i tried 1/2" od line and did not like it as i still sounded like the horn was choked… Changed to 5/8"od and am in business now!
