I’d like to mount it underneath, but since I have front and rear winches, space is kinda limited, so I’m looking into splitting the horns from the stock manifold.
I’ve seen a few remote kits listed on Ebay for big bucks as well as a kit from RTH.net, but I know nothing about any of them and I’m open to suggestions.
I’ve seen plastic and steel, but have yet to see any machined from aluminum
Hi Snake E!
There used to be a couple of guys on here if my memory serves me right, Farmer 69 & Curt S, both manufactured their Own individual mounts, I would search the old threads on here, I seem to recall some CAD drawings of them by one of them i think
The plan is to go with individual manifolds and solenoids because there will be a bit of a run between each bell due to limited space :o (like one in the rear, one in the front, side, etc.)
I believe the RTH brackets are the ones from Curt S. Not sure if he still makes them behind the scenes or if he totally got out.
They used to have a price on Ebay for a single bracket with fitting.
They quoted me $45 for each manifold/bracket earlier today, which isn’t much off of their $150 store priced complete kit for the K3 with lines and splitter.
First order of business is to remove the stupid SS Allen bolts I used when I put the horns together
After years on my roof, they don’t wanna budge and I’m afraid they’re gunna give me hell
Tried a little heat with a torch, but no dice, so I’m gunna soak them with Liquid Wrench overnight and hope they come out
It’s been about weeks without my horns and the stockers do very little to warn idiots on the road
Gotta get them back on ASAP, but only managed to remove one bolt before breaking my new Allen head socket
Soaked in PB Blaster overnight and hit them with the torch a few times, but the rest look to be a PITA, so I just dropped them off at the machine shop down the street as they’re better equipped to handle it :o
I figure if they don’t come out, they could cut off the heads and slide the bells out, then they could get a better grip on the remaining studs.
