Safety valve question

Got my dual 444c pumps with 200psi pressure switch and everything is installed with the new tank but the safety valve I have is a 175psi, just ordered the 235psi one.
Question is: Will it hurt anything to run the pumps without the safety valve for a few days until I get the new one? Can I trust the pressure switch to shut off at 200psi for a few days?

The prudent answer is no. But…
Do you have an in-cab gauge and a master cutoff switch? You could watch it real close while the compressors are running - then hit the switch if necessary.

Chances are nothing is going to happen. I’d feel more comfortable with a proven system than a brand new one.

yes I have the pumps on a toggle switch and have an air pressure gauge. Thanks.

I agree, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Ive never had had a pressure switch fail me to not shut the pumps off… But best bet is to use the correct safety valve. Or just watch the gauge careful and maybe even shut the pumps off so they dont have a chance kicking in when you are not paying attn to them.

^ i have. They can stick.
