Both set of my horns are facing forward under my truck mounted where the spare tire goes.
I put some fine screen around all the bells but that didn’t help my snow problem.
Today we got 6" of snow and while driving they got full of snow.
I want to mount a metal shield in front of the bells and about 4 to 6 inches away from them, will the shield have any negative effects on the sound of the horns?
See crude image below…
Can you not mount them sideways or turn them around so they are facing backwards?
I cant see any reason why there wont be a noticible difference in sound, the sound waves will still hit the plate and explode in every which way.
I have a Ford Ranger and if I turn them around they will hit the tow bar and not enough room to mount them sideways.
I cant see that having any negative effect, sound wont travel as far but itll definately be loud to people around you lol
My K3LA is pointed straight down and I’m heard at 1.5 miles … Trust me, you’ll be heard.

Sound travels no matter which way they are pointed. I have my k3 , 2 chimes are pointed down and one is tucked behind my bumper parallel with it… It still blasts the shock of a life at people. And my shockers are mounted on frame pointed backwards, and the sound still blasts great!
Pick up a set of snow covers little pricey but nice.
