shocker xl vs shocker vx

I was wondering what the difference between the shocker xl and the shocker vx?

The 'Shocker XL" tank’s are bigger and compressors are better… for me this http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=shocker-540-train-horn-kit is the best deal…

I was wanting something for under 500 dollars? so there is only one kind of shocker horn?

http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=shocker-232-train-horn-kit this one is under 500 and it is pretty good

but if i were you i save some more money and buy this http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=shocker-548-train-horn-kit it is only 144.00 dollars more and it will be louder and you get a 5 gallon air tank and one viair 480c so

I just upgraded to a shocker horn and I love it. It’s a really good horn for the price. But if you want a real TRAIN horn I recommend a K3. Im working on purchasing a K3

you’re going to upgrade later on down the road if you don’t end up buying the more expensive kit, so you might as well just go ahead and get it over with now.

seriously the upgrading process never truly ends

VX kits come with a 1.5 gallon to 2 gallon ViAir air source unit that are tank and compressor together. They are both mounted as one unit and to be mounted on the vehicle require the unit to be mounted upright.

The XL kits come with 2 to 5 gallon tanks and separate tank compressor combos allowing you to mount the components separately for more installation possibilities.

Any additional questions please feel free to let us know!

how much different in sound would there be between the shockers and a k3 train horn?

a lot…

Shocker VX’s have 1/4 inch airline and Shocker XL’s have 1/2 inch airline and quick connects.

Haha true. Garrett did an up-sell on me by getting me to upgrade to the 200psi shocker it. I’m glad I did so (thanks garrett). But I agree, Now I want more and louder horns!! Dang its addicting.

P.s the shockers are loud as hell though, you won’t be disappointed with them

the best comparison i found - i love this sound of the k3!

Dude you cant even compare them. tonite I blew my shocker at a guy with k3s and he nlew mine away even though im still only running 90psi.

hahhahahahah that was me gentlemen

I’d add that with the exception of the 248VX, the VX kits feature smaller (and slower) air compressors. This makes the kits more affordable, but does increase the recharge time on the systems.

The XL kits are much easier to install underneath a vehicle (where we recommend it) and feature a couple extra features. These kits generally also include faster compressors than their VX alternatives and tank sizes up to 5 gallons.

For one the air compressors come with snorkel kits so you can relocate your air filters high and dry, but leave the compressor somewhere where it might be exposed to a little dirt. Another great feature is the upgraded pressure switch in XL kits. It has a built in relay to significantly improve the lifespan of the switch.

The 5 gallon Shocker kits use the same air setups as the AirChime kits we sell; this means if you might upgrade later, you just need to buy the horn (the XL valve works for both too).

XL are definitely worth the extra money. For example: The 232XL is 50% faster than the 228VX, and the 240XL is twice as fast. Cost-wise, the 232XL is only $30 more than the 228VX, and the 240XL just $20 after that.

Get the best bang for your buck and buy XL.

This is wrong. The VX come with 1/2in OD air line just like the XL kits. They are slightly restricted on air flow though to make up for the smaller compressors, just not to the point that a 1/4in air line would.

K3s and K5s will always be louder, the Shockers give P3s a good run for their money though

Sorry, I stand corrected.
