shockerXl vs. K3LA

Hey everyone. Just got my first set of horns a month ago and already want to upgrade. I have a hornblasters conductors special 540 kit and was thinking of upgrading to a K3LA. The question is, how much louder is the K3 than the shocker XL? Has anyone heard them side by side? Videos don’t do any horns justice and dB ratings are not always a tell all since a harsher chord sounds a lot louder. Thanks for the input. Just want to know if the $800 is worth it.

I honestly haven’t heard them side by side. Most people say the K3 is “on another level” haha It is significantly louder.

The K3LA is much louder, but you can find ones that are $400-$600 on Ebay, sometimes even much cheaper.

I have both the k3la and shockers.

My k3la is run with 5/8" airline @ 150 psi which makes it scream!

And the shockers are run with 1/2" airline to the manifold and then split from there to the horns and run @ 150 psi which it has a nice authentic sound …

K3 is by far much louder and videos do not do them justice. In fact the last time i took a video with my camera it came out sounding crappy and overpowered the mic.

I went the same route as you did. Got shockers this christmas and they are plenty loud and the next best thing to a locomotive horn. It only took a week or so to realize I wanted the real deal. Since I already had the air onboard it was easy to add the K3. I found a bare aluminum K3HA on Ebay for $400 + shipping. Let me warn you, be ready for the first time you blow the K3. It’s “on another level” hahaha :eek:

I maybe blowing my own trumpet & I know this is a bit old but heres a comparison video of a triple Hornblast.
My first ever set of Seige 3 horns fitted into Milsters car (car on the left & & first honk honk)Then the Shockers I fitted into my old MR2 (on the right, 2nd honk honk) then my K3’s fitted into my Toyota truck, its so loud it cuts the sound down on the camera!:smiley:

I know that this isn’t the freshest thread but, I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who got the shockers and then decided that I really want at least a k3la. Lol
