So who is still running more than 150 psi to their Shockers ???

Ok firstly let me say the nice people at Hornblasters told me more than once not to run 200 psi or anything over 150 psi to the Shocker XL horns and so far I have not BUT this has really been bothering me cos I found a BUNCH of threads with people running them at 200 psi and saying that they are so much more louder, and no issues, etc. etc.

So can any of these people with over 150 psi on Shockers chime in and let me know their experiences so far??? I know this will invalidate the warranty, but I thinking about trying 175 psi…

Also what I really dont understand is, in some of these threads they say its ok to run UP TO 200 psi but I noticed they were threads from a few years back so what really happened here? Are the Shockers made weaker now or something??? Just curious about all this …

Oh and btw, I dont blast em for more than 1 to 3 seconds at time so will I be ok at 175 psi???

Momofx,

The reason we do not recommend anything over 150 psi now a days is due to the horns coming with the current XL valve and fitting package. Years ago we offered a horn kit called called the HB4H or the Classic kit. This came with a 1/4" valve and all 5/16" tubing (this was fine at 200 psi). Comparing that to the current Shocker XL kit this comes with 1/2" tubing from the tank to the valve which is now also a 1/2" valve as well. This moves 2x’s the air to the horns. With that being said 200 psi or anything over 150 psi will be to much air and cause the horns not sound as they are musically tuned to do so.
