My plans for getting a nice factory looking button seem to be falling through, so I was wondering what sort of button I might need to be looking for… I know I want it to be a momentary on/off, but are there any sort of electrical stipulations that I should be aware of as well?
There aren’t really any to speak of. You want a momentary “push-to-make” switch capable of at least 1 amp at 12 volts (12 watts). Almost all train horn valves are rated under an amp. If your valve is question pulls more, you can just add a relay to solve the power problem. (With a relay, you can pretty much buy any switch)
I’d recommend looking in an auto store like napa or even discount auto/autozone etc.
You could try this site. They have LOTS of pushbuttons that look pretty good…
