MY Lighthouse Fog Horn epic fail!!
I went down camping in Dorset at the weekend with friends & family. One of the people that was there worked for Trinity house (they look after all the light houses around the coast of the UK.
He had arranged for us all to visit the Portland Lighthouse, where he knew the old lighthouse keeper well.
We started to have a tour of the Lighthouse & then he said " I understand from Simon that there is a Horn nut among us?" and then he pointed to me!! He explained that I was going to actually set off the Portland Bell Fog Horn, I was made up & could not wait to do this.
My brother videoed the whole thing and we did a proper Job for Hornblasters - but his SD card failed and we got nothing!!
Any way, after opening several valves & starting the massive electric compressor, I got to flick the switch… ten secs later the most amazing sound came from the Fog Horn!!!
Luckily I had my remote control in my pocket for the Horns on my car parked just outside the lighthouse and Simons son Jo was filming from his phone outside.
