the good thing about UK plates is that you can buy them in auto spares shops… they are made of plexiglass… so if you ever loose, break or ruin one or both of your plates you can buy new ones for about $10 (i paid £7 for one in London).
In Italy whatever happens to your license plate(S) you have to pay to get NEW license plates (with different numbers).
If you loose one or both you have to go to the police and say you’ve lost it (them). If you ruin it (them) you have to go to our DMV (called differently), ask for new license plates, pay something around $200 and wait one week, and you have to drive around with numbers written by hand on cardboard…
And trust me, that’s very stupid.
We can personalize our plates but they have to respect the number-letters format (for instance AA 000 BB) but i’ve heard they cost a fortune… would never do that.
