I have a pretty loud 12" subwoofer in my trunk. If I were to get a hornblaster.com better kit, will the subwoofer eventually shake loose the Air Compressor’s tubes and such overtime when I will have both in the trunk together? Please let me know!
Welcome to the forum. I’m not sure what effect the woofer will have but unless your vehicle floats on air and moves without an engine there will be vibration.
I was also wondering. I’ve seen an install where they removed a Honda Civic back bumper and installed the Train Horns under the bumper. Where would I install the Train Horns? Under the back bumper? I have a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo LS!
Where you install the horns will depend a great deal on:
- Where there is available space in your vehicle
- Your prowess at making use of the space you have (i.e. your ability to fabricate mounts or have others do it for you)
The install you noted where the back bumper was removed was a case where the owner found space under the back bumper and went through whatever pain was involved to both access and make use of that space. You will need to locate space on your vehicle and do the same. This could be as simple as placement of things within the vehicle and/or its spare tire well (if it has one) … or as complicated as under-bumper, behind-grille, in-engine-compartment, under-vehicle, or some combination thereof.
Thank you! Also, I was looking at the Nathan Airchimes tonight but the horn piece is a giant block, the Hornblasters Train Horns are separate I think so mounting them would be easier! Thank you!
Nathans tend to be mounted on their manifold in a cluster. If you want Nathans but space is a problem, you could always replace the original manifold with an aftermarket manifold, fabricate your own mounts, and run air lines from each bell to the manifold so you can separate the bells.
There are pre-made kits for doing exactly that kind of thing, as well. Here’s an example of one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NATHAN-AIRCHIME-P5-TRAIN-HORN-CUSTOM-MOUNTING-BRACKETTS-/360479029582?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53ee39794e&vxp=mtr
Thank you!
Here’s a new question. I’ve purchased the Hornblaster’s Conductor’s Special 240 earlier this week. I was originally going to put the air tank and compressor in the trunk and run the horns behind the front bumper but I’m not sure if it will fit behind the front bumper. I have a roof basket so I was thinking about running the horns under the basket on the roof. I was also thinking of putting the air compressor and tank in a compact toolbox and lock it in the basket if it’s lockable. I need help finding a compact toolbox to have the electric wire going through a hole in it and running the air compressor off it. This is what my car looks like…
Unless do you think I could just have the air tank and compressor up there without a toolbox but I don’t think the air compressor is water proof (Rain). That’ why I need a compact toolbox. Plus it would deter theft if it’s in a tool box.
Mmmmm… cheese
Love the wheels you got on the little beasty
Compressor should be fine in a semi sealed box up top. If you have the 400C it will be dust and dirt resistant. Just keep the air intake and your electrical bits dry.
Lol Thank you!
Do you think that this would work?
I could drill holes for the electrical wire and the air tubes. I bought a 1.5 gallon tank instead of the 2 gallon so I think it would fit in there.
1.5 gal is a bit small so I’d Keep tank the same or bigger. It can be mounted out of the box if too tight
I was looking at your installs DBO and you did a good job! The local shop here charged me $400 for installation so I think I got ripped off but they have experience installing them and I couldn’t find anyone else to install it that had experience! If I run the power wire to the roof for the air compressor, is there such a thing that protects the external power wire?
Oh ya! I forgot that the air tank can be outside of the box! Also, I’ve already ordered the kit with the 1.5 gallon tank so hopefully there’s enough honk time! How much honk time do you think I have?
By the way, you’d fit the whole kit inside the car no worries at all. Check out the pics for my Swift install (in my sig) or the Yaris here on the forum, or the Smart. The Shockers are easy to tuck away.
Probably 3 seconds or less
My trunk only has less than 19 inches of room length wise for anything with my subwoofer back there. The 2 gallon tank is 19 inches so I thought it might be a tight squeeze or not fit at all as the rear seats lean back towards the front of the trunk. I would rather install the horns in the front of the car kinda like how you did it with your cars but we’ll see! Thank you!
I got it installed!!!

I was able to get the 2 gallon tank to fit in the trunk!
