I purchased the K3LA, viair 380C and an 8.5 gal tank. I’m running 1/2" ID hose the entire way.
One question im wondering about is one compressor going to be enough? I understand 2 is obviously better, but can I get away with one for now?
Also, does my pressure switch need a relay? I’m not really understanding what the relay is for.
I have a Blacked out 2008 Range Rover Sport, and the entire underbody is flat, absolutely no room. I mounting everything in my trunk area but behind my panels. Except for the actual horns, which will go behind my grill.
The compressor could very well last a long time, but it won’t be covered under warranty.
Which pressure switch do you have? Some have a built in relay. A relay is basically a switch - an elctrically operated switch. The control side takes very little current to activate which connects the load side. It lets you use light duty wire/toggle switch/pressure switch to control a heavy compressor load.
Welcome. The warranty that ear2ear mentioned is from Viair which is limited to 5 gallons per compressor. Adding another compressor will double your fill rate and current draw.
A single pressure switch can control both compressors. A single solenoid can be used for both compressors if it has enough current capability, otherwise each compressor will need its own.
Ok I just switched up my order, I purchased the Zenith OB2, and a 7 gallon tank. That should simplify it a bit and it’s a nice upgrade.
Ok I thought I only needed one solenoid and that was on the outbound line just prior to the k3la manifold. I’m not sure what your exactly referring to ‘each compressor having its own solenoid’ maybe I’m missing something.
Oh ok, didnt know. The 8.5 g tank that I originally looked at was cutting it too close and wasn’t going to fit. I need a tank that’s thick and not to long. I have a compartment in my SUV’s truck that is behind the panels. It’s about 26" long 15" wide & 15" tall.
