Thinking about upgrading..

hey guys I am new to the forum and probably about 6 months ago I purchased the Outlaw Chrome Horn set from Hornblasters and have been satisfied with it, I am the only person in my area that has a train horn and seems to be loud, to me and others.

I was looking up the hornblaster scare videos on youtube and noticed that just the shockers are a lot louder than my horns, and was thinking about upgrading to the shockers.

Is there a lot of a difference in the sound and loudness between the two if so how much?

any input is greatly apriciated, thanks guys

Haha you’ve been bitten by the bug! Welcome to the forums.

You’ll upgrade to shockers cause they’re louder - then you’ll upgrade to a real trainhorn cause it’s louder…

Maybe someone who’s heard shockers & outlaws can tell you how much louder they are.

I’ve heard the Bu-ell 4 chime horn (shockers) compared to a United Pacific 46129 (their smallest horn, same loudness as outlaw) and the difference is massive. However, I recommend you save up an extra $100-$200 and buy a REAL train horn off of eBay, like a P3 or a K3LA. A K3LA is at least twice as loud as the shockers.

thanks for all the input guys, I just bought the shocker XL train horns from hornblasters. do you guys know if there is any difference between the XL and the classic shockers, i did notice that the air line is 1/2 inch rather than 1/4, that shouldnt be a problem on my vair air tank should it?

Yeah, it’s the airline. Horns are the same.

Do you have the Outlaw 228 - compressor attached to Viair tank?
It looks like those have a 1/2" port so you’re good to go.

What size tank you got right now?

I bought outlaw Chrome horn kit when i first got on and I’m going to use that same tank, its the 2 gallon one I believe

cool, idk how much you honk but your probably going to want to upgrade tank in the future. The shockers are nice, you’ll love em :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha yeah I’m sure a bigger tank will be on the way soon as well, but is there any difference in the Shocker xl horns and the classic Shockers?

I wanna say its just the 1/2 inch air valve, more air makes them louder, I could be wrong as I only had the XL shockers and not the regular ones.

I have the classic shockers, i believe its 5/16ths line to the horns vs 1/2 with the XLs, The xls will be louder, but my classic shockers are plenty loud haha. especially now that I have it at 200psi
