This is crazy

I would be REALLY pissed off!!

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/oddnews/man-angry-after-police-break-into-and-damage-his-truck-over-dubious-marijuana-suspicion-200242323.html

The cops say it’s legal? No honking way in hell is it legal. Sue their bums off and win a huge judgement.

Since the (most likely BS) ‘probable cause’ turned up absolutely nothing, they’re liable for the damages caused during the course of their ‘work’. He’ll have to sue to get it … and he can potentially get compensation for lost advertising and loss of use of the vehicle during repairs – since it’s a marketing tool.

But wow, wtf…

Legal my oven, thats bullshit.

Hey Matt, sorry to hear the news about the truck. I’m more astonished that the note was written on a scrap of paper, with no official documentation to say your truck had been entered with force and searched. You’ve probably honked the guys wife or something and he was paying you back??
What ever it was about! There’s is no rhyme nor reason to trash someone’s property like yours was! Totally outrageous!

That is a load of BS. I am thinking it was someone who was pissed off who JUST so happened to have a Badge and gun and a posse. Either way, That was Very Unprofessional what the cops did. Shoulda had an alarm rigged up to the K5’s so when They broke in it would go off.

Wow good luck, hope you get justice and hopefully there is documentation so there isn’t any mystery of which officer did this (if the paper on his windshield had a fake name)!
You should have a 24/7 running video surveillance system running on the truck and have it upload to a server automatically.

That would be a very weird episode of Adam-12 or Highway Patrol.

Makes total sense because all smart drug dealers drive monster trucks adverting train horns!

Yeahhhhhh agreed!!! And how far did they go, coz that truck is huge!

I’m hoping Matt and his lawyer stick it to the Tampa PD for this. I have friends that are officers and the first thing they’ve all said was, “What’s the deal with that note? We have official forms for this; why weren’t they used?”.

^^^what MO said.
My gut feeling is someone has taken accept-ion the truck, be it jealousy or whatever and thought it would be funny to take out the HornBlaster truck??
Something is not right with that scrappy note!

Wouldn’t do much good, since the police would have been able to get a key from the dealer for that truck. I doubt this was a spur-of-the-moment action.

I think one of them has a grudge and it’s simply harassment on their part.

Or it’s possibly a common thief trying to shift blame to the local boys in blue – which would explain why the official form wasn’t used. If that’s the case … whoever trashed the vehicle could also find himself charged with impersonating a police officer…

Call the phone number on the note and find out. :D:eek:

Any update?

I asked Rigo the other week & he said it was the police and they were paying for all the damages:D:D

Since this is now confirmed to have been the police and since their search, destruction, and lack of leaving official paperwork all yielded absolutely nothing … AND since they had the option to obtain access from a dealer and elected not to do so… it’s pretty clear the ‘probable cause’ explanation is truly nothing more than cover.

In that light, IMHO paying for the damage to the vehicle isn’t enough, specifically because I see a 4th Amendment right violation (illegal search/seizure) done under the dubious cover of ‘probable cause’. Putting a good attorney on this can likely make the police pay dearly. I’m half curious what the ACLU would have to say on the subject, as well…

That could be counter productive. You would become a target for any petty violation.

Sue. Win. Move. Solved.
