Can you or someone recommend how to mount a tank if you can’t use a bolt? Is it safe to use self tapping screws? Are they strong enough?
I wouldn’t use self tapping screws. I’m sure someone has done it. We can wait and see what other people say but I’d try my hardest to use bolts of some kind lol
I don’t think self tapping screws are strong enough. even for compressors.
I used stainless bolts with nylock nuts. used some pieces of steel bar as “oversized washers” to distribute stress to the body sheetmetal.
Bolts are best way to go… Self tappers are next best. Just make sure to go with a #10-12 at minimum and remember that the length of the self tapper includes the drill bit on the end… to short will get you a hole drilled into the steel but no thread penetration.
