Too bad I didn’t have my camcorder handy when I set up my K5Las at my works parking lot. We sit right off a major route between Md and Pa that runs parrallel with the tracks. Durring rush hour, I sat there and hit the horns about every 10th car . One woman sat there for about 3 or 4 mins, continuously looking up and down the tracks for the train . Not sure this is qualified to be a scare or not. Just funny as hell to watch.
ehhh, not a fan of the crossing scares… that’s just dangerous.
Point taken. I hadn’t given that much thought. Perhaps I’ll re-think doing it anymore. Sorry, new to the BIG toys. Just got over zellous I supose.
ive dont it once saying hi to friend then realized i was at a set of tracks, i hit them and all i hear is people slamming on their brakes…i was like oh $hit! im not doing that again…
X2 that happens to me too the car besides me hit the brakes and almost the one behind him hit him so i don’t doing that again lol but is fun to watch lol
lolol thats the funniest crap man!
I did the same thing by accident but I turned out to be the main victim. Traffic in front of me was moving very slow for no apparent reason. Some guy was going about 15 in a 40 zone and holding a bunch of us back. I was about 6th line behind him. You could see a wide open road, no traffic or problems, but he was crawling. I forgot my train switch was on when I laid on the horn and it really ripped, startling them and me too. Trouble was that we were just passing by a flat railroad crossing which kind of blended into the road so I didn’t think about it. The slow guy made it across and kept going but then all the others stopped cold and kept me there for 2-3 minutes while they looked up and down the tracks. So I was delayed even more for my impatience. Never thought about it being dangerous before but after this incident I make it a point not to sound the big horn anywhere near train tracks, except the occasional greeting to a real train which is passing by in front of me as I wait my turn to cross.
lol… that’s funny.
I like to honk back at trains as well. I just don’t honk when there isn’t a train just to make people think there is one.
Well at least you guys have trains to honk at. The closest thing i have got here to loud are the cruise ships… Oh, then theres me
Yeah. I learned my lesson guys. Like I said, I’m blonde. LOL Just a boy with his new big toy. Won’t do it again unless it’s in responce to or a greeting to a real train.
BTW, is that again some law over there? i know its damgerous n all as it related to falsifying an on comming train with drivers but is it on the law books there? Will cops fine you for that?
dont take it as a lesson… lol if you like to do it then do it!
That sounds like jail time…lol…nope, thats ok. Pass
Na, I think I’ll pass on doing it again. Be my luck, I’ll get locked up. Then, I’d have to sell the horns, tank, and the whole set up for bail money. Then I’ll need to sell my-self to raise enough to get new horns, to get locked up again. LOL
lmao - If you do, then 'ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST" will have to apply there…
I am sure recreational train horn usage is not dangerous in most situations but it could cause wrecks so you have to be careful. You could be charged with all manner of crimes including violation of noise ordnances, disturbing the peace, reckless endangerment, involuntary manslaughter, etc. Very unlikely to happen but think how you would feel if your prank led to a wreck and some innocent people were hurt or killed. Takes the fun out of it for life.
On a lighter note, I am actually kind of looking forward to my next traffic ticket. I customized my 2007 Toyota Tundra including a complete removal of all factory badges and insignia, then the truck was too bare so I ordered custom badges from an OEM manufacturer. The new badges are the same size, material, quality, and font as the OEM but now my truck says “Coyote” where it used to say “Tundra” and “Wile E.” where it used to say “Limited”. It looks so authentic that even the local Toyota dealerships are convinced that I am driving some type of factory promo or concept vehicle. Many people pass me on the highway, slow down, get behind me, then pass on the other side. They are looking for the true make of my truck but all they get is Coyote in every direction down to the smallest detail. I often get stopped at gas stations and parking lots asking where they can buy a Coyote. So I can’t wait until the next time an officer pulls me over and has to radio it in:
“Unit A-31 to dispatch. Show me out with a dark brown Coyote, late model Wile. E., for speeding.”
…OR…
“Unit A-31 to dispatch. Show me out with a dark brown Coyote, late model Wile. E., for use of an Acme train horn.”
I’ll bet the officer is so embarassed he will either let me off without a ticket or he will put me in jail. Oddly enough I haven’t been pulled over even once since the customizations despite my questionable tint and often high rates of speed. Maybe they think ahead to the radio call and just pass me by. Or maybe they remember all those great weekend morning cartoons like I do… nothing beats the classic Wile E.
Pics of my truck can be seen on the following site but the site is outdated. I have completed many other projects since then and just didn’t have time to write everything up yet. Maybe I will get around to it when my next horn project is done.
