train horn issues

I have a conductors special 232 from hornblasters. I know not real horns. But it makes a high pitch tone when I use them when temps are above 50*f the are high pitch then go.deep like they are suppose to sound. I hope I’m clear with my issue. Any help would be great Thanks

How much pressure are you putting to them?

Kris

145psi. They only make that higher noise in temps above 50* below 50 and its deep toned

I’ve taken it all apart to remove condensation aswell

Mine used to do that as well. It was only when i ran them at 200psi not 145 though… It really only did it when it was humid. It may be your valve… Try adding a few drops of air tool oil before the valve and see if that helps.

200psi? How did u do that? Was it loud? Forgive me I’m slow. Where is that valve

what gets me is it only does it when it is hot. And only for a brief sec

My shockers used to squeal like that too. My solution was to honk them more frequently haha. I’m not sure how, but they worked themselves out.

This is how mine sounded, is it the same for you?

Very very similar.

Mine seem to do it more and only when hot jus a quick squeal one time today it did the correct. the rest were all squeals

For 200psi, you would need a 200psi compatible compressor as well as a 200psi pressure switch. valve, or solenoid is what keeps the air from going to the horns from the tank.

its because of the air i believe…when it gets hotter the air in the tank changes and it takes a honk to too to get it back to normal…

I can honk it 1000 times in the heat and always does that in the beginning

ya it will always be like that…its just that very first honk or to from the air just sitting in the tank and heating up…its normal…if u want, before u honk, try purging some air out of the tank then honk ur horns…

Even when I honk back to back full honks it does it. I hate it. A reason to save up for a k5la

what size airline and valve ru using?

Why not switch out the valves, or try a manual valve? It would be a cheaper solution for now, and you can always use the manual valve later with the K5.

Could it be the valves doing it?

iI don’t have a clue about valve size or line size. its the conductors special 232 model. it was installed for me as an Xmas gift. I haven’t even looked at them much.

mine do that too. i have the same horns. today it got to like near 60 outside. still did it…had to hit my switch twice to get all 4 horns to sound off together.
