Ok so here is the video,of course the horns sound really small on the camera haha. You can tell they were loud though because it shifts the camera everytime i hit the horns. If you hear them to begin with they sound high pitched and squealing and u will hear them every now and again kick in completely, and then at 32 sec they all kick in for about two seconds and then i stopped honking them because my neighbors get pissed lol.The reason I just kept tapping them is because normally they wont clear up by just holding them down. http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x83/eutechnyx/?action=view¤t=MOV00492.flv
Wow dude…gotta love that V8 bubbling away there!!!
Hmmmmmm I’m no expert but they dont sound right, could it be a split diaphragm?
Someone else told me bad diaphragm too.But if it was messed up would it still work sometimes? and would the normal amount of pressure 145 max split them?
Yeah I reckon thats gotta be worth ago… Are the Shocker S4’S?
Yeah they are.
Try them on another air supply, if they still do it…back to Hornblasters they must go!:(
yes try another air supply…
Any luck? I am curious to see the problem
sounds to me its the valve, try blowing them with the shop compressor with no valve on the line
What would the valve be doing to cause this?
its not the valve. bad horn. my conductors do the same thing…thats why i took em off, ill go swap em for another set at HB here soon. the high pitch is annoying as balls in person
So its more than likely not a moisture issue then? Do your conductors do the same thing, they sometimes once in awhile sound good but most of the time not? It will be so much easier for me to just send them in because my shop compressor will not allow me to hook into my horns anyways.
my front horns (not shockers) would do the same thing until i got a new valve, i would have to keep hitting the switch quickly for them to sound fully. The reason was the valve wasnt opening all the way so some of the horns were only getting 1/4 the air needed to sound. your best bet is to use a air tip from a garage air compressor/tank without the valve on, if the horns sound fine its the valve, if its the same sound its the horns
So, you think I should pull the valve off and shoot some WD40 to it?
if you brave enough take the valve apart to see if something was lodged in it, one of my cheap valves i had before had a piece of Styrofoam in it, causing it to leak
I got a question for the HB guys, if something is wrong with my horns will I be able to return them? I cut off the little bolt on them that is down by the bell opening. I had to remove that mounting bolt because my horns are against my radiator and that bolt would put a nice hole in it…
theres nothing to those valves i took mine apart just to put a bracket in it so i could mount it like this
Ok,well I did notice that even if you touch the valve to the battery directly it doesnt work unless the truck is running with 14.4 volts. But it has done that since day one.Its a 3/8" SMC valve. What I was going to do was replace the horns and if it still does it i was going to buy the 1/2" kit and i would get a new valve too so it would work out.
As long as it is not malicious damage and as long as the are in whole you can call us and get an RMA# return the horns and pay the freight and we send you new bells.
Huh…??? That dont sound right at all fella!!! I woz gonna say, have you checked ya valve…
