Train horns Illegal in NYC??

You don’t want water in your pressure switch. Not sure if it matters in the summer, but deinately bad in the winter.

It’s best to have your pressure switch installed with the port down, definitely not in a bottom tank port where it’s facing up.

If your air intake filter is in a dry location then more water will end up in the tank in summer because the humidity is higher.

Thanks guys, I think I’ll mount it in the side then. I have the drain cock in the bottom and the blow off facing the frame. I will then run a second line in the bottom port to run air tools off of. Any tips, tricks? Install seems pretty straight foward. I just cant find a 1/2 npt plug…

Most hardware stores should have them

Apparently not mine lol. I just got the compressor, tank and switch mounted, just got to hook everything up now. And get some horns of course.

did u ask? i had to ask and he went in back and got me one, or order one from HB or somewhere else online.

Na, I didn’t ask. Actually just went to a lowes. I’ll look at my local plumbing store 2morrow, they should have it.

I got a plug, got it installed and it works great!!! I absolutely love it. Compressor is surprisingly quite - a good thing.

So you don’t ruin the gauge, swap it with the plug on the side.

It’ll get water in it and mess it up in the bottom ports.

Ya, I’m just having it in there for now to make sure the pressure switch is working and that I’m not losing any air and then I’ll dump it and put a air port to hook up a air hose up to.

question, I am working out the details on mine. Why do you have airline coming out of the filter end of the compressor? Where is the filter to the compressor?

THanks

Cool…

And that is a really nice install. Great job!

Its a filter relocation thing. Its so he can mount the filter in a dry place.

Thanks, man, it work great. I have a diesel too so I dont even hear the compressor.:stuck_out_tongue:

I mounted the filter above the truck frame where water doesn’t really go, Is it crucial that it never sees moisture?

Yes, it is cruical that it never sees moisture! I would recommend mounting the filter inside the truck. You never know when you might drive through a large puddle or something.

The more the air filter is subject to moisture, the more moisture ends up in your tank. If you don’t have a moisture trap on the output of your tank then it ends up in your valves and horns.

So I should move it???

i would recommend it.

Legal to own, Illegal to do this
