Trying to lose weight!!!

I was watching one of scoobys videos. He mentioned a jump rope. I forgot that a jump rope is an amazing tool to workout with. Screw the leather ones, though. I got a leather one and it would always bend and hold the shape it was inside my gym bag. When I went to jump rope it would wap me in the back of the head. I used that thing about all of two times…

I’d go with a plastic jump rope that seems heavy duty. I’d also avoid the ones with weights in the handles.

I usually jump roped about four 3 minute rounds if I remember correctly. In the last 30 seconds, I’d go as fast as I possibly could. Then I’d rest for 30 seconds. During that time I’d do 10 pushups if I could.

Hope this kinda helps.

I’m in the class that I can eat total shit and still be in shape:D:D But gaining a little weight would be nice just need to start hitting the weights again.

I’m jealous of you. My friend is just like that. He eats TOTAL garbage, doesn’t work out, and still keeps muscle and no fat. I can only eat crap if I’m workin out two hours every other day. But when I’m work that hard, I don’t wanna eat bad.

some truth to this but… no your body wont eat your muscle. losing muscle is actually harder than people think. your body will only utilize muscle tissue as it’s last resort.

you don’t need 6 meals a day or every three hours. frequency of eating actually does not increase your BMR, that is a myth. It feels like it does because food is coming and going through you more frequently but you don’t actually speed your metabolism up.

If you can only get 3 meals in a day that’s fine, but based on other factors i’d aim for 4-5 and 6 if you REALLY have the time, but it’s not necessary. Diet induced protein synthesis spikes after aminos from a meal enter your bloodstream for about 3 hours before heading back to baseline, but recent studies have shown that it is actually more beneficial to have spikes that return to baseline before being triggered again to prevent protein synthesis becoming refractory to these amino acids. Also remember that it takes at least a good half hour/hour before the nutrients get into your bloodstream.

any way, weight loss is very simple… It’s all calories in calories out. You can pretty much eat whatever you want, whenever you want, as long as you follow one simple rule. Expend more calories than you consume.

Garrett used to be a personal trainer. All I’m going to say.

what are you trying to say, that garrett is right and i’m wrong because he used to be a personal trainer?

btw I’m a natural competitive bodybuilder getting a degree in exercise physiology…

Guys…take his advice over mine. Obviously he has more of a background in body science.

Thanks for the great post Hornee.

to the people complaining of not being able to gain weight… there is only one reason for this, you aren’t eating enough… i don’t care how much you guys eat, if you aren’t gaining weight, it isn’t enough.

I lifted for years before I actually started eating correctly. When I did eat correctly I gained 30lbs in 4 months, in which close to 10lbs was muscle. (i wish it could stay like that forever:D)

A high protein and high carb diet with moderate fat intake is what you should be aiming for. 1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight is quite high and is actually the UPPER limit, but it’s OK to do that if you please. I usually get around 1.2g/lb. of bw. Not really any need to go higher than that if you aren’t on anabolic androgenic steroids and aren’t approaching 50 years old

oh and not saying that Garrett gave out bad advice or anything… we all gotta start and learn somewhere and that is a good base of knowledge to work from so that’s fine.

The science behind nutrition and weight loss is always changing because we keep discovering new things and new studies are always coming out. A lot of information floating around out there can be outdated and off somewhat factually, so keep that in mind.
