I first heard these in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDb1Pi6zhfs&list=UUXV53uSkk4Zq55xUSXmpNCA&index=19&feature=plcp
I was shocked at how much they sound like nathan’s. They are more in my budget range and I was wondering how loud these are? Are they as loud as shockers? Or should I wait and save money for some Nathans?
I have one of these, and provided that you use a 1/2" valve and air line, these things are VERY impressive and pretty much on the same level as the shockers if the shockers only had 3 horns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1toPsvO_obw This person is using a 1/2" air line and valve. Please note that ordering the “HD Valve and tubing” from Air Horns Of Texas will get you 20 feet of 1/2" tubing but a 3/8" valve so you need to get a bigger valve and fittings for yourself. http://www.airhornsoftexas.com/train-air-horns/46115-chrome-train-horn-low-mount.html you can even re-arrange the bells so that the biggest one is in the middle to make it look more like a Nathan. Good luck!
Don’t those come with a cheap valve right on the manifold?
Seems like there was another guy on here that used a bigger valve and hose. It was pretty impressive. In fact, some people were skeptical until he made a video.
I linked to the video of the guy who used a 1/2" air line. He was using the big 46115 horn that I also linked to. Airhornsoftexas offers the ordinary factory valve and an upgraded 3/8" valve and 1/2" tubing for $40 extra. I would recommend just buying it without the upgraded parts and buy a separate 1/2" solenoid (or get a ball valve) and tubing and fittings. MetroSales2001 on eBay has good deals on solenoids (a 1/2" solenoid is $30 on there).
Unfortunately, it seems like the 46115 is steadily rising in price (just a few months ago it was $220, now it’s $300) so you might be better off looking for other sources to buy it from. Trucker websites work just fine, such as this one: (I’ve ordered parts from them before) http://www.bigrigchromeshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=BRCS/PROD/UEAH/UP46115
