using secondardy air tanks?

well due to faimly emergency i took 6 months off work and care of business and am back were i started. I’ll be getting a k5la and a 5gal tank soon as i work out kit price.

how ever i have 2 x 4gal tanks rated to 200PSI with smaller 1/4 ports should i plumb these into my main tank? i can also get some very large gas cylinders but these only have the 1 air entry so i would effectively have no drain but as it would be interconnected via air lines it would have a saftey valve on the other tank. at a guess these cylinders are 5ft tall anda are 1/2" thick we have been cutting them open and getting rid of them as they dont meet the new safety standard. however they are rated for 3000PSI so they will still be fine for my needs

your k5 will starve for air with those 1/4" bungs. Save up for the 5 gal with 1/2" ports.

I have 2-5 gal tanks tied together and its great.

should say my main tank will be 1/2" port job. just my other 2 tanks have smaller ports i could feed both smaller port tanks into a the bigger tank.

so i will a 5gal tank with 1/2" ports. then i will have 2 x 4gal tanks 1/4" feeding into the 1/2" port tank.

if that makes sence

I think it would be fine. Just give each 4gal tank it’s own airline to the main 5gal tank.

You can watch your air gauge to see if the tanks are equalizing after shutting the horn valve. It should be almost instantaneous. If there is a lag, you need more/bigger airline/fittings.

Exactly… That would be the concern that if you are taking air out of the tank via a 1/2" or bigger line / port, but trying to feed the main with small 1/4" ports, thry wont be able to keep up with it. I have 2- 1/2" lines feeding each tank in the front, and i have another 1/2" linked to each other for the drain ports which also acts like a feed for the other tank. So my tanks are always equal pressure.
