my 280c was submerged by accident is it worth fixing or chunk it and buy a new one?
dry it out slowly, it should be ok???
If its been wet internally, it may be a good idea to blow it apart and dry & clean the insides of the unit. Never start a compressor that is wet internally. As long as nothing has shorted out, it should be okay.
Ok, something has shorted out. 
I dried it and its a nogo.
First, test the commutator for continuity. If the motor is burned out, its a doorstop. If not, you may be able to replace the complete carbon brush assembly and make it functional again.
