so i got this compressor. needless to say i doubt i wasted my $. although he said it wasnt pumping much air. i took the head off but i know NOTHING about these compressors. I know mechanics just not these. the head and cylinder walls seem to be in good shape. no major scaring on the walls but there is some debris on the head/piston and i found some tiny pieces of aluminum. but they still seem to be in good shape.the lil flap(dunno the name) on the pison deff needs to replaced. i’m guessing it acts like a reed(only allowing air to pass one way). also is there suppose to be a o-ring at the base of the cylinder? looks like there is a groove but there wasn’t one there when i took it apart. what parts do i need and were can i get these parts? i have read about people replacing that lil flap with a feeler gauge. if i did that and got a o-ring for the base would i be good to go? sorry for the novel.

PM Lance. he might be able to supply you with the right replacement parts and help you get it running again.

Already replied to the thread you made at GMFullsize…

Here it is again:

Piston seal still looks good and if the cylinder wall isn’t scratched, you’re good there too. The valves are easily obtainable, but do not use feeler gauge to make your own. You may end up with a piece that is not flexible enough - or is too flexible. The valves are stainless steel since moisture is often present while air is being compressed.

od so i got the valve ordered. kinda supprised how much a lil piece of metal is. andyways, i know this compressor is not sealed. but i cannot mount in inside the cab. would i be better off mounting it in the engine compartment, or making a metal box for it?(Vented of course to allow the head to escape.) if i make the box i will more than likely be mounting it on the frame and use a remote air filter.

and i got the valve today and when i was about to put it back together i noticed the valve in the head was broke to:mad:. so now i gotta wait a few more days till i can use this thing…i hate waiting on snail mail.
