Vibration!

Just finished the install tonight, 3 days straight, 8 hours per day…glad to be done!!

Anyway, I have an 04 Impala SS. I mounted the compressor (400c) to a “beam” under the trunk, just forward of the rear bumper. The compressor is mounted sideways. I wansnt aware how much these things vibrate! It feels like a massage chair in the drivers seat!

I did a search here and read things like isolators, dampening and isolation…

Im thinking some bigger rubber pads would help, but I cant find anything online…anyone know where?

how about some type of dampener under the legs. Like sound dampener such as second skin, or dynamat, etc? granted you only would need a small piece of it. But I bet that would work. Also, you could check your local Lowes or home depot, There is a product such as Peal and Seal that a lot of car audio guys use as dampener… that may work too.

I have a crap-ton of Rammat BXt leftover…Im going to try and deaden the area around the comp. and see if that helps.

nope. don’t think that would work. deadeners add mass and basically lower the resonance of the metal parts so the sound simply gets muffled. but the low frequency hum of the compressors will still get through. you need rubber isolation mounts to prevent the compressor shaking the rest of the car.
