Well I must not be looking in the right spots…but I think I’m going to hold off on buying one right now since I could possibly be getting some for free! Not bragging, but am excited.
how lol
My Father-in-law is in Demolition(up in PA) and I told him that I’m looking for some train horns. There just so happens to be a building with 3 broken down locomotives sitting inside right next to his Demo site he’s working on, and he said he’ll see what he can do. I’m crossing my fingers and waiting for a phone call telling me to come get some train horns from the back of his truck. LOL
boom fist, if the deal with your father comes up dry, get on ebay give tom aker
taakersc, when I first was looking at getting a k3la I hit him up gave him a partial payment and the next week he shot the horn to me before I had even given the second payment on the day promised. 2 months later did another deal to upgrade my k3 to a k5 canadian toned k1-k5, he has like a warehouse of parts & can get you hooked up. he’s a good ole boy from sc "true southern gentleman "straight up guy .tell him your situation & he’ll work with you to hook you up.
Hell yea, I sure will. Thanks for the info man. I’ll hopefully hear sometime Monday…I’m just anxious to hear what he’s come up with. If all else fails, I’ll be getting with taakersc for sure.
Thanks again…
k5 went for like 580 yesterday
where? ebay?
Yea, I saw that one…doesn’t mean he accepted it. It wasn’t a NO RESERVE auction so, it might not have even sold. I talked with him and he wanted $750 for it, and that’s with me picking it up…he lives only about an hour away.
NO there was no reserve…so what ever amout it went for he has to sell it.
I’d sale you a Old Cast P3 and a K3HA for $800 shipped…might as well get both if you dont know which one to choose, use both? I did with a RS3K and a RS3L, both had two different locomotive valves, and the best part, I manually set up a custom manifold for each trumpet to sound at different times electric solenoid style.
K5’s are not bad, just depends also which trumpets you put together to make a K5…K5 canadian, K5 american, K5 american with 1L, K5 canadian with 1L, K5’s with 1L,3L in the mix, all of them, they all have a different sound, it depends which sound your looking for, FRA didnt jump on railroads for nothing, thats why all new locomotives come with lower tuned horns, so they dont piss off everyone, but can still be heard from either direction…trust me, i run em everyday.
just my two cents…
^^^ true ^^^
If you’re still looking,
I have recently acquired a p3 on a 5 port manifold with Nathan stamped plates closing off the two extra holes.
Recently media blasted, freshly gasketed, and has new diaphragms.
I also have a 150psi electric solenoid and stainless push button with a red Led ring for it.
It would be a little above your price range but it looks and sounds great.
Just let me know if you’re interested in a p3 that is expandable to a p5
And I can send pics
