water trap

any advice i need it to be able to hold 200 psi and have 1/2 inch ports
i have shocker xls at 200 psi wit a 2 gallon tank and a 480c

Smc

What’s your question have to do with a water trap? All it does is capture moisture. The air needs to be cool enough for it to work so put it on the output of a tank. Just make sure it’s rated at or above (preferred) the pressure your using.

my question is where can i buy one rated for 200 psi with 1/2 inch ports

Ours has 3/8" ports so try a google search for “coalescing oil water separator” or ask Hornblasters.

so whats the deal with the water trap? If Im running two compressors, do I need that if I drain the tank weekly? Or does that even have anything to do with the amount of water accumulated in the tank?

a water trap works best on the output of a tank so the tank still needs to be drained occasionally.

you only need it if you require dry air so it depends on your horns and their valves. air tools should be ok if you keep them lubricated. spray painters need dry air so they use them.

Thanks for the info. What do you do if your leader hoses are too short? And can you screw up a compressor by mounting it in the engine bay?

That depends on what is too short. The leader hose, usually stainless steel braided, is used to handle the hot air from the compressor. The length you need should be based on how long the compressor runs and how hot the air gets. It should be long enough to reach your tank or at least long enough to help cool the air before using something like DOT air brake tubing.

Mounting the compressor near your engine will preheat it and shorten its duty cycle. It might be ok if the compressor doesn’t run very long, is shielded from the heat, or has plenty of ventilation from cooler air.
