Last sat my friends made me join a dbDrag event with a carshow event.

The car show started about mid afternoon and I was parked along with the show cars all opened up stereos blaring and showing off. mine was closed and locked lol. I was with my friends (who were judges in the SQ competition) when they were about to finish, went to my car (along with some other friends that came later) and they wanted to hear the horn. I honked the truck horn and everyone stopped what they were doing and looked around :stuck_out_tongue:

then I decided to give the shockers a honk. Everyone stopped and took notice lol I heard someone say (rough translation) “Now that’s a horn!”

now on to the dbDrag event later in the evening. for those not familiar, you pull up to the lanes they attach a sensor inside your windshield and you turn up the stereo and the decibels get displayed on the screens. loudest wins.

so my turn was up and I pull onto the lane. The announcer says “lane one, honk when you’re ready” the shockers were on and “hoooonk” everyone had a kick off it especially the spectators around the lanes. hehehe

When I was about to pull out after getting metered, the announcer asked “one more honk before you pull out” then everyone was covering their ears and I was smiling inside my car and honked the stock horn. everyone laughed and when they took off their hands off their ears, I honked the shockers again. :smiley: (and no I didn’t meter the shockers. it wouldn’t register on the TermLab hehe)

And after the show, when we left I emptied the tank while leaving. :stuck_out_tongue:

Aren’t there different classes? What class were you in?

yes. but because there was no one else in my category lol. On the car show part, there was a loudest engine roar category. If only it was “loudest horn” or “loudest car” I might have gotten another trophy

yup because the Termlab responds to frequencies below about 150Hz. I need a ship horn for that :stuck_out_tongue:

I joined the street stock A 1 woofer class. I got 136.3db with under 1000watts, a musical box and two 8" SQ subs. :smiley:

I went to another school event again last saturday. My intention was the dbDrag event there since I had a new box made (one note wonder) and wanted it to just get metered but decided to join anyway.

Ever since I arrived, I never honked my shockers till later in the event. (Took a bit of effort to resist honking when I was hearing the other cars with their electronic and meep meep horns honking at various times)

When I was pulling into the lanes to get metered, I was just tapping the horn button with the truck horns on while pulling up so that people would move. There were reactions that my horns were loud etc etc etc. I think I heard someone say it was like a boat or ship. huh? :confused:

When the time came where the announcer said that I honk when I’m ready. Everyone was around my car while a friend was outside waiting for their reactions, I switched to Shocker mode and gave two moderate taps. Everyone jumped and moved back. :smiley:

After getting metered, the announcer said to move back or they’ll get honked at. lol

When I rolled my windows down and was backing up. Someone said please don’t honk :stuck_out_tongue:

A little later while waiting for awarding, There was a band playing. At first they were ok, later everyone was getting tired of the singer so everyone was honking their meep meep horns continuously. I just sat there resisting temptation. Then this restored WWII jeep with its air raid siren was then making noise. I said to my friends we go to my car. I gave several blasts, their reactions were shocking. Lots jumped, others screamed… the usual. :wink:

Then after a few minutes of honking, I gave them the finale. Filled it up to full till the comp stopped and drained the entire tank with the shockers right down to 20psi. When I stopeed the crowd cheered, the security in front of my car was laughing and a bunch of people were coming by asking about my horns. Told them to check out hornblasters.com. :cool:

When I was about to go home, I gave a light tap of the shockers to my friends and even at that time, I heard someone say “oh so that’s the car with the loud horns” I guess that meant my setup is stealthy that some people don’t even realize it was my car. LOL

I was quite happy that day. :smiley:
