Its on some old decommissioned engine in my area, I was contemplating taking it seeing there’s no use for it anymore on the train.
Nathan Airchime K3L or K3LA
What he^ said. That’s on an actual locomotive…are you the conductor? Or why do you ask?
Duh I just read your comment under the pic. So you are wanting to steal it?? If so, not cool. Besides you can get in some big f’n trouble if you steal from a railway. Just sayin…
I missed that comment when I originally responded.
Yoster: Please clarify your statement as stealing is not tolerated on this forum.
Thanks
Stealing that horn would be considered grand theft.
I have seen a k3 stolen off a friends truck before and we ended up finding out who did it. You will get caught.
To all others: This is why I welded a little bead on the bolts. Yea, you have to replace the bolts every time you want to take the horns off or clean them. But, it’s so worth it not getting your horns stolen. You could use lock tight, but I don’t trust it.
Just buy one stealing poop isn’t coool
ur better off asking someone who works at the rail road to see if they have any info on it… sometimes the employees can get the horns off trains…
Well he probably took them anyway.
I used security bolts. You have to have the correct security bit/driver to unbolt mine.
what happens if it gets stripped??
If what gets stripped? The threads or the head of the bolt?
head of bolt
You’d have to have a monster drill torqued super high to strip the head on those things. And even then you’d probably torque the whole head of the bolt off before you stripped it. The bit goes in fairly deep into the head of the bolt, makes a tighter fit, and contacts more surface area of the bolt head than a standard phillips or flat head would.
Btw I also used blue thread locker on mine to keep them from backing out.
oh nice…
If I were you, I would leave it alone and save up for a new Nathan Airchime K3 (Thats the horn in the pic I think). It is a Federal Crime to steal one off of a train. Or better yet, Ask An Employee of the Rail Road Company and see if they can get it for you.
