What kind of horn is this?

Im new, and just bout this set of horns. I know they are Air Chimes but what model? and where can I buy a Air Manifold for it? This one is broken in 2 pieces, but the horns are fine.

By the way I bought these horns for 75 bucks!

It’s a K Series Airchime from Micro Precision Group.
To me it looks like a K5LA, but it could also be a K5LLA, the difference being in the notes that some of the bells play. You should be able to see a number on each bell.

If it’s a K5LLA, you will have 1L, 1, 2, 3A, 4A
For a K5LA it will be 1, 2, 3A, 4A, 5

Have you got a photo of where the damage is on the manifold? You can probably get that tig welded. If you’re not fussed with the manifold, you can also make or buy individual mounts for each bell.

Wow…75bucks is peanuts! Nice find! I’ll give ya $100 for them lol

I’ll bid $130!!

I’ll give 130 plus 20 for the broken manifold.

$200. But I’m not sure if he’s looking to sell…

$300.00!!! J/K looks like a K5LA to me. gotta hear what it sounds like first to tell.

I agree. K5LA

The early K5LA’s do not have 3A & 4A-marked bells. The “A” stamp was applied only after Wegner Machine (Nathan, New York) took over production in the 1980’s.

This horn could also be a straight K5L, much rarer than the American-voiced version.

I see K5L and also K5L-UL manifolds for sale on fleaBay all the time, so if you plan to mount the horn somewhere other than underneath your vehicle (extremely destructive to the horn, because they were never meant to be mounted on or under over-the-road-vehicles where they are exposed to road grime, salt, grit and the like), otherwise DBO is right, you can buy individual mounts for each bell from HB.

If you decide to use the horn on its bracket, I heavily suggest reversing the two small bells on the ends forward to go along with the other three. Bell reversals are used only on some railroads for operating the locomotive in either direction. However ABF as the horn was originally meant to be is the best way for it to sound correctly. It also looks cool, see the picture of my dresser decorative K5LA, ABF. Die cast K-horns are very directional…

Oh, and K5 horns make great home decor and furniture…

^ A coffee table! - now I’ve seen it all.
Please tell me your front door bell is also a train horn

Since I live in a high rise, I have no need of a doorbell. However a close friend who lives near here has installed an old cast P5 as his weekly doorbell. Horn is in the stair well leading to the basement, mounted on the wall on a metal wall-pad that holds the horn horizontal as it would be when mounted on a locomotive. Horn is supplied through a basement air compressor with 30 gallon tank, 125 PSI. door bell button actuates a solenoid just beneath the horn, which feeds air to it. He is only using a 1/2" ID line to the horn, more than enuff to handle any model he chooses for the weekly doorbell sound. He has P3, P5, K5’s, M5’s and assorted Leslie 3- and 5-chimes to select from. Next time I go over to his house I’ll take some pictures and post here…BTW, whenever we go there and pull into his driveway, I always get out of the car first and blow a rule 14L grade crossing on the doorbell. Lots of fun, though their 7 cats that live in the house disappear when the doorbell is blown!! You have never seen cats move so fast!!

That is sooo cool! I can’t imagine how loud it is in the house. Can’t wait to see pics.

well, a K5LA Doorbell. I think I might have seen it all!

Are u interested in selling them? I’ll give u a hell of a profit on them?
