I just got a K5la a few days ago. I want to know: what size airtank should I get, What size air hose I need, What psi I need to blow it at to get the best sound quality (not damage the horn from too much pressure), and where to get all these things.
min. tank size 5gal.
Min. psi 130- and max- 175 Mi.
Airline === Minimum- OD (outside diameter) 1/2", I run 5/8" OD, some run 3/4… Bigger = more volume, which = more sound.
You can start off with that, and then when you get tired of it, work your way up to bigger kits… You will need a compressor to.
And you can get mostly everything from hornblasters.com
Call them up, they will hook you up.
What vehicle are you putting them on? I say get a 10 gallon or a 12 gallon and be done. A 5 gallon for a k5 is just wrong lol
Wot he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hence why i said minimum…
lol i know, i was just saying not to go 5 gallon
Last summer I had my k5 on 9ish gallons. It goes quick!
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome aboard!!
You should get at least an 8.5 gallon tank, that being said, the 12 gallon tank is not that much bigger, so I went with the 12 gallon and for me it is still not enough, I am definitely going to add another tank to the system.
I started my build purchasing 1/2" OD brake line and then reading threads on this forum I realized bigger is better here too. So I finished the system using 5/8" OD brake line and couldn’t be happier.
Get everything from hornblasters.com, if you are going to use the larger brake line, Doug from air ride fittings dot com has it plus the larger fittings too.
I fire @ 200psi, on this forum some say it is fine, some say it is too much and will damage the horns, still don’t know.
I love the way my horns sound, wouldnt change anything except more air volume.
here is the thread to my system
I’m not planning on putting it on a truck/car. I’ll probably use it as my doorbell or something.
