I took my car apart today to put my shockers (used) on but the line was too short. I went ALL over town in my mom’s car looking for parts to make the line longer (fittings, more line, etc). Couldn’t find ANYTHING at lowes, any hardware stores, nothing… Is this on purpose so I have to order online? Just wondering. Everyone looks at me crazy when I ask for 5/16 fittings.
just buy 3/8 the price will be almost the same
i bought 5/16 fittings at lowes
all they had were 5/16 compression to 1/4 pip thread though
I got 1/2 to 1/4 then 1/4 to 3/16 to step the 5/16 line up to the 1/2 inch valve lol all at lowes. Couldn’t get the compression fittings though.
i bought mine at homedepot
sorry yeah mine was at homo depot too not lowes…
Eh, that’s okay lol I got the horns installed and the lines ran. Just have to get the tank and compressor installed and put the valve in and I’ll be set.
what kind of lines did you run? you can get dot line at shops that work on 18 wheelers or trailers…
Why not use clamp fittings after your air valve? That’s what I’m using with 3/8 standard air hose. used 3/8 barb to 5/16 male fittings for the horn hookup.
Napa is where I bought most of my stuff. but its so $$$. oh well it works lol
Barb fitting and clams aren’t the prettiest thing most people go with compression or push to connect fittings because they look clean.
I got my line from a local hardware store. It’s DOT approved and all… I’m using barb fittings with clamps on the GW valve.
I just wanted a horn to honk at trains and stuff, kinda like Ed’s Grovers on his Avalanche. I just don’t have any kind of rack for my Accord and none of my real locomotive horns will fit anywhere else on my car.
I don’t have the money for the K5LA I want to put on the truck…
SOOOO I got it all finished tonight and got what I expected. I was told the ID of the 5/16 line is 3/16 so I got 3/16 barb fittings. Well they were too small and I have bad leaks before and after the GW valve, like so bad the horns won’t even honk (I have hose clamps on them too but when the air is pushing against stuff that hard, it’s gonna find the easiest way out and that’s by means of a loose fitting airline on a barb).
Anybody know if HB has 1/2 threaded to 5/16 PTC fittings? I could really use 3 if they do!
The inside of the 5/16in tubing we sell is 6mm or roughly 15/64in. If you can find metric barbs they’ll give you a perfect fit. We only sell 5/16 to 1/4in NPT fittings. You would have to use a 1/2in to 1/4in NPT reducer to achieve your request.
The only 1/2in to 5/16in fitting we have is a 4 way splitting fitting.
List of 5/16in fittings available from HornBlasters:
5/16in Line to 1/4in NPT Male Connector (push-to-pull & compression)
5/16in Line to 1/8in NPT Male Connector (push-to-pull & compression)
5/16in Line to 1/8in NPT Female Connector (push-to-pull)
(2x) 5/16in Line to 3/8in NPT Male Branch Y (push-to-pull)
(4x) 5/16in Line to 1/2in NPT Male Double Branch Y (push-to-pull)
We also have 5-way 1/8in NPT T-fittings available for the compression style fittings.
Thanks alot!
