Which Horn

Hey guys new to the site, and am looking at getting a train horn for my truck. Right now i am debating on the katrina 5 or 2, or the conductor 540 or 240. I will also run air hook ups with my tank, so i am just curious of the katrina 5 is worth the extra money, and any other info you guys would like to give me. Thanks Dan

From one Dan to another, welcome to the forum. I haven’t seen very many postings about the Katrinas yet but there are a lot of recommendations for the Conductor 540.

Hi and Welcome!!! From what I’ve heard no one has ever been disappointed with anything you listed here!!! I guess whatever fits your budget. I think the Katrina has to stay mounted with the manifold it comes with? Which the height would be a potential drawback if your looking to mount it undercover.

Again, WELCOME!!!

yeah i do believe the katrina cannot be moved of that plate but space is not that big of an issue. My main concern is if the katrina is worth the extra money, how much louder is it? i also like the fact that the horns are metal. Can some give me some help as to if it is ok to mount this compressor in my tool box? Thanks again

Compressor run time and ventilation will be the main concern for mounting in a tool box. I’m not sue about Viair but an Oasis compressor is so fast that heat isn’t factor unless you run it longer than 15 minutes.

You talking like a truck toolbox? My toolbox has both my ViAir 380C’s mounted, Along with my 12 gallon tank. Never had any issues at all with heat. Although on a cool enough day after running them awhile, I could open the toolbox and there was certainly heat building, nothing I would ever worry about though. If I would do it over again I would get an oasis, the ViAirs are great little work horses but I’m craving faster refill times!! This summer when I get a new truck it WILL have an Oasis in the toolbox!! Sorry for rambling LOL
